World Urban Parks is pleased to support and recommend Yardstick to all park and recreation managers.

Currently there are more than 80 cities and parks organisation Yardstick members across New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Canada, Finland, Norway and Denmark.

Yardstick Parkcheck Management Measures is the management benchmarking project and Yardstick Parkcheck Visitor Measures is the parks user survey project. Leisurecheck is a parallel program suitable for managers of leisure and aquatic centres.

Membership is on a Calendar Year basis and new members are encouraged to join the program that drives best practice and efficiencies, shares information and knowledge around the parks sector and recognises industry improvement and areas where attention is required. Benchmark quality is maintained by service representatives visiting the organisation to facilitate data gathering methods and entry, as well as auditing data. Data is entered on-line and results in on-line comprehensive reports with tables and graphs.

Yardstick national and regional User Group meetings are open to anyone involved in the management and delivery of parks and leisure services, and provide valuable learning and networking opportunities to share the latest benchmarking research on the management and performance of parks and leisure facilities. National and Regional user groups also plan different annual foci for components of the survey.

World Urban Parks Annual Indicators

This new service will commence in 2016 and is provided to park management organisations in countries where Yardstick is not currently offered. It comprises 27 of the more common organisation benchmarks that are part of the Yardstick suite.

The process is simplified so that users enter data online and receive an annual report from Annual Indicator users plus the more than 80 Yardstick organisational members. The $380 USD fee is much lower than that for Yardstick as it is much less comprehensive and has no audit or user-group support. But it is a cost-effective way to access and participate in core benchmarking for organisations wishing to determine their performance relative to other organisations or to measure their own improvement in performance over time. For those that just want the report, this is available for the same fee.
